September Update: The SUN Civil Society Network

September 2015 Update: In addition to preparation for the 2015 SUN Movement Global Gathering, the SUN Civil Society Network (SUN CSN) has updated their structural arrangements. These include:

• The SUN CSN Steering Group membership has been updated following an open nomination process.
• A SUN CSN Strategy and Sustainability Task Force (SSTF) has been established to support the coordination of civil society input towards the development and subsequent implementation of the SUN Movement Strategy (2016 – 2020).
• A SUN CSN Operational Oversight Committee (OOS) has been established to oversee the day to day management of the SUN CSN’s operations.

The SUN CSN also held an open webinar to report on delivery of the 2015 work plan – proceedings and materials can be found at http://bit.ly/1EkmDqn. Additional recent efforts include:

• The Zimbabwe Civil Society Alliance (CSA) provided an article for the SUN Movement In Practice Brief on Gender and Equity to be launched later in 2015.
• Lao PDR’s CSA launched a report on Women’s Empowerment for Improved Community Nutrition.
• The SUN CSN is currently preparing an Advocacy Tool Kit which will be launched before the end of the year.
• An “Accountability Think Piece” will be developed to capture civil society’s accountability in SUN Countries, the article will review analytical articles and case studies.
• An Alignment Report has been commissioned to strengthen the understanding and knowledge of civil society alignment efforts to national priorities, it will be launched before the end of 2015.
• In preparation for two SUN CSN Learning Routes in 2016, the SUN CSN is recruiting a member of staff.
• The annual SUN CSN survey will take place shortly in order to capture the key needs of CSA’s and inform capacity strengthening efforts.
